Some of the canon lenses were just wow. Serious lens envy from my end.

That is how I usually feel when my business partner's dad pitch up. If he pulls out 2 x 1DIII and a 600mm lens + another one with a 1.4 extender. I just want cry.

That is when I pack my stuff up.

If anyone is keen on one I might be able to get some - not sure of the price yet.

Seems price will be about R11k - slightly more than I was hoping for (although that seems to be the price for 2nd hand bodies as well) - however maybe I won't get as it seems someone has booked them all.

Probably not so much. Accreditation is like nothing I've seen before. I shoot editorial now and doing the move to sports, for agencies at least, means some expensive gear.

Not necessarily weddings. I want to do something to supplement my income. The biggest problem is at the moment I'm not on a visa that allows me to do anything other than work for my employer.

Actually, weddings terrify me. But a colleague, who is a keen photographer too, likes my people stuff, and wants me to do her wedding. I flatly refused when she asked me, but she's been working on me and I might just end up doing it.

While I'm waiting for my speedlite to clear customs I was wondering if I can use the built in wireless and use my old sigma off camera.

I found this on a review for my old flash

Wireless ratio control. The 550EX identifies wireless groups as A, B or C. The EF-500 Super identifies the groups as 1, 2 or 3. Functionally they’re equivalent.

You should be able to. I'm able to trigger my Sigma EF0530 DG Super optically (i.e. with the popup flash) even on the G9. There's no E-TTL, of course. I'm not sure how groups of Canon flashes communicate. It's not radio, and they need line of sight as far as I know, so I imagine IR?

Maybe a good time to invest in Pocket Wizards - the latest models can handle E-TTL.

I'm renting a 300mm and a 1.4TC for the weekend (there's some rugby on sat evening) so we'll see how it goes. The rental place didnt have a 400mm anyway.

Don't think the vazo will make my pictures any better. Not sure it would make them any worse either.
