Those of you who've been around here long enough know I've been fiercely critical of the 5D and 5DmkII cameras. But I have to say, if canonrumors.com got it right (and they have in the past), I might just buy the 5DmkIII...

In the meantime why dont you rush out and get that 17-55 you've been lusting over for the past three years . . . :p

I may yet. No plans to sell the 7D, and since Canon didn't bother to put IS on the new 24-70, it would still make sense. 7D + 17-55, 5DmkIII with 70-200 would make a nice combination :)

New to me, yes :) I'm aiming for the high-end 15" with the CPU upgrade and high-res anti-glare screen. It's quite pricey :(
Ah, ok. I've got the 2.7ghz i7 so I'm not too far behind the pack. I'll have to concentrate my spending on either a 1Dmk4 or maybe* a 1Dx

(* full frame being for sissies and all).

Mine is the old 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo. The 2.5GHz i7 quad core performs roughly 5.5x better, so it's a massive gain for me. It should last me for the next three or four years, I hope!

I also wasn't a major fan of the 5DMK2 ... The more I looked at the specs, the more I thought 'this needs a replacement soon' ... And I also prefer the 17-55 after reading reviews.

Same a you then ... 7D, 5DMk3 and 17-55 would make really happy ;)

My comment does, of course, assume that I own the 70-200mm too, but I don't. It looks like this is going to be an expensive year... :o

I wonder why only 6fps though? :/

How fast do landscapes move?

... water drops move fast

EDIT : I just always assumed the 5DMK3 would better than the 7D on every account. From the specs, I know it is - barring this

If the rest of the camera is any good, making it faster might eat into the 1DX sales. At least, that's what I suspected Canon was thinking. The interesting thing is that Nikon released the D700 with 8fps (with grip on, 5fps otherwise). That didn't seem to eat into D3 sales, even though the cameras were otherwise almost identical. But now the D800 dropped with 4fps, even with the grip. I'm not sure weather that's a business decision, or is it simply due to the volume of information that comes off a 36MP sensor.

Why? Other than the new sensor and the addition of video, the 5DmkII was identical to the original 5D. It didn't even feature match to the 40D, which it was based on.

I only became interested in photography a year back ;)

I know little of anything pre 550D, 60D, 7D, 5DMKII and a few 1Ds.

But it was just an assumption that they'd take the 7D and add a new full frame sensor.

And now we wait for the comparison reviews, give it a month or so and then it will be 5DmkIII vs D800 / D4 etc etc...
Actually I am quite interested to see how these cameras compare, and especially to see the ranting and raving of everyone afterwards as they sift through the finer points of each article.
This is looking to be an interesting year ...

Aaaarggghh!! I was telling my fiance about it this morning and she said "Oh, just pre-order one already!" So I head over to B&H's web site and then it hits me. We have loads of expenses coming up with our intercontinental wedding etc etc and I suddenly feel guilty. I can't spend so much money on something that is just a hobby. Right?

So I went with the cheap postage and packaging option.
