5S Apple covers

My blue cover started to get a bit hazy with dirt. I opted to give it a Masterguard+ treatment with leather cleaner and the UV leather care.

The leather has by now started to show 'leather wear' which isn't a big deal. Nothing one can do to prevent it. Basically on the face side rim and the back side corners, the leather colour is much darker.

Do these have a lip on the front? Can you drop it on it's face without the glass touching the ground?

Does have a lip, yes. You can flip the phone on its face on a desk without the glass rubbing. It's not as pronounced as a Speck case but it's still there.

Seems good enough for me. I never understand how anyone can design a "protective" cover without a lip.

Damn...phone left my hand as I was getting out the car in a slow motion moment.



I don't leave it in my pants pocket as then I can't answer calls. Leave it in my top pocket and it'll rocket out if I bend over (experience with that one). So, I grasp it in my hand as I get out the car and then place it in my pants pocket. Sigh.

Phone is spotless (whew...) but the case got a nice ripped hole on one corner. Did its job I guess. Just a bit expensive at R549 to replace every time.

I'm not sure how Dave123's black leather cover is going but I wouldn't recommend the Apple covers....sadly. They start to look pretty siff and discolour - not in my good way. If one tries to clean them, even with leather cleaner, the result isn't very encouraging. The yellow, blue and beige covers don't hold up well to daily use at all.

I'm not sure what I'll look at getting next. It's not feasible to buy R350-R500 covers every 6 months!

The Black still looks good, I haven't had to clean it yet as it doesn't show up dirt much. However I have bought some leather cleaner cream after discovering the same as you when I tried to clean a brown one with an alcohol based cleaner (it also isn't really possible to re-dye them either, I tried with the brown one ).
