Went off to the dentist today for the first time in a while, and he did some x-rays etc. Amazingly, he pointed out what would appear to be a round bone or small tooth where one of my wisdom teeth would ordinarily be! He said he had never seen anything like it before. I had, to my knowledge, all 4 wisdoms removed over 10 years ago. So ja, quite interesting to find. Has anyone heard of or experienced anything similair before??

Have a read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperdontia

Could be worse

I wouldn't mind if I could regrow some of my large molars which are a bit worse for wear. Apparently there are techniques to encourage a new tooth to grow but if it does not develop correctly (size, shape etc.) you could have big problems. Does the new wisdom tooth have the correct size and shape or is it malformed?

Similar, yes but not with teeth. My grandmother (RIP) had 3 kidneys. Weird! She had to have one removed which was when they discovered the 3rd kidney.

well comparing it to my other teeth (molars) it seems smaller. Im just amazed that this wasnt picked up at the time, or by a dentist subsequently. Makes you wonder.

Some people don't have wisdoms at all. It's part of human evolution, so we can expect some people to have in-between ones. My adult molar was taken out and then one regrew in its place...
