Can anyone advise me where I can obtain a 64 bit sim card for my 3G card without taking out a 24 month contract.

There might be some a work-around where you buy a pre-paid SIM for a couple of Rands and then port your old number to the new SIM.
I think the OP wants to do the opposite; use an existing number on a new SIM.There is a work around... you have to have used the pre-paid sim card for 3 months before you may use that number (and that sim) on a contract.![]()

This is from MTN's 3G SIM Card page:What's the advantage of a 64k/128k sim over the standard 32k apart from holding more ph no's etc?
Is there any benefits as far as 3G operation goes?
Why Upgrade?
You can run 3G services so long as you have a 3G phone/data card and are within 3G coverage – but we advise you to upgrade to an all-in-one 3G SIM card, called a USIM. This will ensure that you have trouble-free use of 3G services, and can roam across international networks easily.
The USIM will allow you to roam on 3G W-CDMA (non-GSM) networks and GSM networks, allowing you to use your phone in all countries where MTN has roaming agreements.
In addition, the USIM supports an enhanced phonebook with up to 250 entries and advanced fields, to allow you to manage your SIM contacts more efficiently.
BenefitsCosts
- Increased storage capacity (128 kilobytes of storage vs 32 kilobytes).
- More reliable for 3G international roaming (other networks may not provide full support for 3G on a standard 2G SIM).
- Better security.
- Extra fields on the address book (for example: e-mail addresses).
A 3G SIM will cost the same as the current 2G SIM (at the discretion of the Service Provider).
I paid around R20 for mine in dec.....Vodacom(VodaCare) says there not much a big change in 32k to 64k ext you cant use banking via that vodata thing. Well I had a sim swap done a long time ago (dec 07) and while using 3G I saw my 3G connection was much more stable well besides that if your using 3G data alot I say go for it...other than that its just a blue sim card with 64k on it so you can show off to the rest of your friends how special you are to Vodacom...Be prepared to pay about R150....
Pleasure, thread hijacker!Thanks Ginggs
Regarding the number of phone numbers, both my 32K Vodacom SIM and my 128K MTN 3G U-SIM can store 250 contacts. What's the advantage of a 64k/128k sim over the standard 32k apart from holding more ph no's etc?
