Okay so it's only the 7th of the Month and I have reached my cap. First time ever and the only reason this has happened is because somebody managed to spoof their MAC and bypass my MAC filtering on my wireless router (I know I should beef up security, but hey).

So after nearly two years of using iBurst I am now capped (our fibre link at the office is so much better), and so far it's not all bad. Able to browse, do my thing, but I can definetly feel the pinch. First thing I noticed is that when trying to download anything from rapidshare.de I am capped at maximum of 4bps, yup not 4kbps 4bps. I suppose they throttle connections to specific sites they know are abused.

So other than DC++ which I believe is down what is there to do on this crappy 64k connection of ours. Any suggestions on how I can "beat" the cap? Shot in the dark but maybe somebody has some ideas.

Look forward to your ideas.

PS - No downloads from anywhere get above 4bps. Not even apache.org. Any ideas how iBurst are implementing this softcap?

I don't ever have issues with Rapidshare.de, so I can still go at 7-9kbs. The cool thing of our DC++ hub it that you get your 15-20kbs but it does not even affect my international dl's. This means that on average while capped I get a total download speed of 22-29kbs. I personally think that this is flippen good for a line capped at 64kBs.

My recomendation to you is to get DC++ working, during the early hours of this morning I uploaded at 26kbs and downloaded at 25kbs.

Shout if you need help.

Not quite the same, no. Same concept as torrents, but more p2p.

First, go to www.dcpp.net and download the client. Alternatively, get it from work. ;)

Install and configure. Connect to ibust.kicks-ass.net, add to favorites, and go!

Ja, theres something wrong with your capped connection. That isnt the capped service you are describing, everything except P2P (besides DC) is allowed when you are capped, and it should all go at 7-10kb, even rapidshare. I use it all teh time when im capped.

Try ressestign the modem if you haevnt and after that call Iburst.

Soft cap limit?

Hi there.

I recently got iburst and I read that if you exceed your limit you are softcapped, but excessive use of the soft cap will result in suspension. I was wondering if anyone has ever used too much of their cap, and had their service suspended, and if so around how many GB's was it?

Thank you !

Me and a few other forumites were suspended last year for about a week's period or so (as we all made such a stink about it).

The amount then seemed to be around the 40gb mark (as all of us suspended had used 40gb+ and another iburster I knew who wasn't suspended had used 35gb or so and not recieved any warnings) but your absolute safest bet is about 20gigs since that (with varience based on your package's initial gigs and my inability to count) is the most you can legitimately do downloading 24x7 with the 64k softcap.

haha, most new seasons for other series also come out towards end of month...gonna be very hard to refrain :)

What does "connect to ibust.kick-ass.net, and add to Favoutites" exactly mean. Is that a website? (Newbie here)
