6800gs AGP..

Thanks for the info/links. I think it is a good buy for the agp slotted boards!

But the card is not streets ahead of my current unlocked 6800nu (4768 current 3dmark05 score). Guess I will wait and see what sort of scores are posted before buying one.

Apparently the NV42 cores are actually 6800go cores, the mobile version of the 6800 (I stand to be corrected on this matter tho)
So that would explain the difference in clocks.
Mem clocks on the AGP should be able to go as high as 1100 MHz without too much trouble.
Im betting that most would also be able to attain at least a 350 + 50 = 400MHz clock on the core too.
Supposing then you're in luck, and the cards are indeed able to be unlocked AND your card's 4 pipes and 1 vertex shader aren't damaged, now THAT would be awesome! :)

P.S. Unlocked using Rivatuner apparently:

Yeh it should do 425 24/7 no problemo, and more so stock speeds should be fine aswell.
The NV42 is just another nVidia core from scratch, with nice pros like less power usage and less heat
So many cards !
Btw,theres rumours of a 7800 AGP,but I cant quite remember...

Another thing I noticed is that the XFX PCI-E versions have copper heatsinks, and the AGP has aluminium.
Could be a factor in achieving higher clocks.
I read that it is possible that XFX will bring out an XXX version with higher stock speeds, as their "Extreme" is rather pathetic!

:eVGA version, on the pics it looks like a copper heatsink.
Now let's just hope they are at least putting decent RAM on these things.

Now that's more like it!

I would like either that version, or an AIW X800XT, they also have 1,6ns RAM and overclock like beasts on both core and memory:

lol yip, when you finally get that setup running,we can take that cards memory up to heaven Borg, the core we can get a good 30 percent increase on also....
Dont take what I said in Wonderboys post the wrong way,the 6800GS is a good card as long as you got it at the right time, which you did!
When you get the setup running we will max it out beeg time.
btw you got your chippy yet?

It's got a whole revised architecture than the GTs in many many ways...
lotsa potential,hehe
:D

Im sure you can, the AGP looks like you can Oc the most though:D

Really!? Where did you see this, ..I hear it's the PCI-E NV42 core that clocks better than the AGP, ..425 up to 500+. Memory on the AGP can similarly easily go to 1100MHz, but I haven't seen anything documenting a trend that indicates most can go above 425 safely on stock cooling.
The XFX AGP version at least looks to have aluminium instead of copper heatsink as opposed to the AGP.

I'd appreaciate any news anyone finds on these babies!? :)
Later.

AFAIK the copper heatsinks conduct heat better than aluminium ones
