Hi,

Vuma are planning maintenance that span over a week, with possible outages, is this legal - i.e. is there nothing a consumer do about it?
I understand this is "residential" and there are no SLAs in place, but this seems excessive?
I understand the need for maintenance, but the disruptions should be kept to a minimal? use alternative routes? move more of the maintenance to a quiet period of day (early hours of the morning? - I'm sure there was an article on Mybb about how much Vuma was making - they are not short of money/profit?)

Vumatel tend to communicate these maintenance windows very poorly.

This isn’t a notification of a 6 day outage. It’s basically a notice that during this window, maintenance will occur in your area. There will be downtime, however it is generally limited to a day or less (usually a few hours). Your downtime during this period is not certain, so there is no way to pinpoint when your individual circuit will be offline- which is why they allocate a 6 day window. This maintenance is necessary to ensure your service runs optimally and is quicker to repair in future.

Keep your ISP notified if your service is down for a prolonged period.

thanks for the clarification.

just ranting;

I've just received a comms via a ticket from my ISP - Vuma/DFA have pushed the maintenance out to 15 oct.
And it started in August.
Although it's not complete outages for days, there are several ~5min to 10min disconnects that can happen intermittently during the day. And also on some occasions extended outages which last a few hours.

I see the Amorosa Ruimsig area has been down for about the last 20 minutes

outage again - anyone with Vuma in the Bedfordview or Senderwood area with out internet since midnight?
can't see any outages on afrihost or coolideas
