Hi All
Aki on 702 just mentioned iBurst's package cost rip-off.
From the 702 website :
+ + + +
" I have just found out that iBurst is offering 1GB bandwidth monthly for R199, and have been offering this package since April 2008. I am a long-standing customer and am currently paying R299 for the same 1GB bandwidth. My monthly spend is usually R498 with extra bandwidth purchased.
On querying with iBurst, I was told that this price reduction had been advertised in print media at the time of the launch, and that they could not switch their existing customers over to the new cheaper price and package without authorization. iBurst has no problem sending out emails to me advertising all their other new services, and I consider their failure to notify me of this available saving in the same manner to be unethical to say the least. This has cost me R800 to date.
+ + + + +
Well to summarise, Aki did not see why iBurst could not pass the savings onto the subscriber. He did not think that Monster Knott-Craig's response was valid and only thought that there might have been a contractual hic-up in migrating all to the cheaper packages automatically.
I remember my sister-in-law querying the package prices when she discovered the rip-off. The helldesk never mentioned an email campaign except chiding her for not watching TV to see the adverts!!!
Well perhaps 702 might investigate the other issues regarding iBurst's unethical business practices now instead of just airing their propaganda.
I won't hold my breath.
