720p vs 1080p Blu Ray rips

Hi All

I have a 32 lcd - the blu ray rips comes in 720p ans 1080p, wil there be any difference on my screen at 32?
Would it be a waste of time downloading a 1080p rip vs 720p rip?
 
meh....not with a 32" imo

even with 42" it's difficult to notice a difference really....

go for 2 x 720p rather than 1 x 1080p !
 
Thought as much - did some googling at most people say you cant see the difference.
 
There wlil be a difference, but it will be minimal at best. Your PC\TV would upscale the video anyway, and the pixels would be slightly larger, but hardly worth writing home about. It would only really make a difference if your TV was FULL HD, and you had a decent AMP and sound system that you can run the HDMI cable into, and then from there run it into the TV. But in all honesty as an average Joe, you wont really notice it.
 
I just grab whatever rips I can, cos you can't always choose between the two.
 
A good movie will be good in 480p, 720p and even 1080p. If the magic of the film lies in the high def and eye candy - well it's a forgettable film and probably not worth seeing, buying, let alone downloading.

Summary: For a 32" 1080p screen you need to sit about:
4 feet away to get the full effect of 1080p
6 feet away to get the full effect of 720p
9 feet away to get the full effect of 480p

So at 2.5m = around 8 feet you wouldn't even see 720p movies at their best. 480p movies would look almost the same as well.

Looking at that chart there is a difference. Its all in the detail and sharpness.
Now if you eat popcorn while 10+ feet away then of course you need not care!
If YOU eyes are Fsucked then of course who cares!
IF YOU ARE A VIDOE PURIST THEN OF COURSE IT MATTERS!
For the rest, bluff yourself.
 
I compared Wolverine DVD and Blu Ray rip 720p and the rip knocks socks off the DVD, tried Wall-E and didn't notice too much of difference except in some scenes in space the 720p blu ray rip is awesome.

I have a Sinotec 32 lcd
Sony 5.1 HTDDW800 870W hdmi and can play uncompressed audio, hooked up to an HTPC with xbmc on it (Windows 7, 4gb ram, 1,5tb seagate, HD 4870 single cable to Sony amp.

In total this system cost me R10 000 - LCD, Sony amp, HTPC

Watched Star trek 720p last night - sound is exceptional and video is clear as a bell.
Still waiting for internet uncapped at home and then will download an 1080p movie.

whats the point of downloading 1080p if your LCD can only display 720p?

seems like a waste imo....
 
ive seen 7220p and 1080p and frankly the difference if neglible unless you have like a 50" tv and you sitting 1 meter away from it.
otherwise they both look awesome :)
 
I always download 720p, untill we have uncapped in this country I'd rather save a few bucks.
