So, is the 7600GT worth the R400 premium over the 7600GS?

And if so, is the 7900GS worth the R400 premium over the 7600GT?

Currently I have a 6600 which i will be selling. I mostly play CSS and might get Battlefield in the future. System is 2,5GHz overclocked 3200+, 2GB DDR and 40GB Maxtor...

Calibre (Sparkle) has a 7600GS with DDR3 that's running close to the 7600GT - for less. But you may want to wait for Vista/DX10 before you buy - major changes in PC gaming on the way with these releases. Depends on your budget and time frame. I wouldn;t buy the 7900 for R800 more now with DX10 on the way. If time is an issue - and you're not planning on getting Vista soon go for the 7600 options rather - and start saving for DX10 and Vista.

7600GT : ddr3 and higher clock speeds
7600GS : ddr2
would say GT would be the better buy

not that big gamer myself, so running 2 x 7600GS in SLI - working fine for me in all games

can's say anything bout 7900GS

Vista Smishta! hehehe!

7900GS will work me out R1260 after selling my other card. Its has 20 pipelines against the 7600's 12 and also DDR3...

I think i have a favourite lol

ummm the 7600gt and 7900gs shouldnt be in the same sentence

i had a 7600gt would run bf 2 on medium with 4 x AA

my 7900gs runs bf 2 full with 4 x aa and 16 x af

the 7900gs blows the 7600gt away big time

the 7900gs does not have dx 10

DX10 DXflem! :D

I dont run them fancy aa and fa stuff, so that isnt really a consideration, but maybe i must try it ourt. FPS for life!!!

I only play the occasional game and, up to now, was able to cope with an FX5600, so would the 7600GT satisfy my needs? It's R600 cheaper than a 7900GS and money is an issue, but I don't want it to be obsolete within two months and then have to buy a new card.

The 7600GT is like SOOOOO much better than a FX5600. A plain old 6600 performs as good as a 5900xt and slaps anything lower all over the place, so a nice 7600GT really kicks ass.

Got a 7600Gt in a old athlon 2800+, it is a nice card for the price.
Got a 7900Gt in my main gaming pc and it can play 99% of games at 1280*1024 at full detail & AA.
Cant say anything about a 7900GS.
I am waiting for a cheaper 8xxx card to come out there is no way i will spend R5k+ on gfx madness

I wouldn't be listening to John Carmack where DX10 is concerned. If you haven't notice iD hasn't had the best looking game or engine since 2000. That's almost 7years now. Tim Sweeney at Epic seems to think otherwise and I'll take his word over John's anyday.

Haha, yes, this is the man who hates IE7 as IE6 is better, and blows away Opera and FF while its at it :p

AA makes games look so much nicer, the smoothness FTW!

But really, I'd go for the 7900GS, its as good card for its price. Prophecy have a great price on it, but being a reseller I guess you get dealer prices.

The 7600's just wont get you those FPS in the latest games, so if you have the cash..

Forget all three of them, PC International has a 7900GT 256Mb for R 1852 inc. VAT.

Cant think of a better price to performance ratio ATM (considering the GT's overclockability)..
