7950GT vs 8600GTS

I would personally get the 7850GT unless you plan on using it for Phsx in the future.

8600GTS is a dog. Crippled by design. on average it is slightly slower, but in some games, its hopeless.

you are better off with the 7950GT.

+1 vote for 7950. I just got hold of one for a few days in between cards and it runs very well. Crysis Warhead on medium settings is around 30fps. Bioshock everything maxed out also 30fps. But watch out for heat, on idle it's over 70c. In game it reaches 90c regularly. I'm going to replace the fan with a Zalman and give it to my brother in law.

I got the AGP version with the active cooler, idles at 61C and reaches 102 degrees!

Or it could be my front vent fan blows directly into the exhaust of it's cooler...but yeah I finally found a Xmas present for my lil bro :D

well, I guess what you must remember is that the 7950gt has 256bit bus, while the 8600gts has a 128bit bus... so you could run games at a higher res or with more AA.

Rather take a Top end 7 Series card over a low end 8 series!
