So after buying an 8 pin molex when I needed a 6 pin connector, and not even knowing the 8 pin existed, I felt pretty **** after noticing it was not the right connector only just 2 hours ago. Now i'm not going to try this, but is it possible to connect an 8 pin molex to a 6 pin graphics card pci e connection?

Errm no, I would'nt. The adapter cable from normal 2 x 4 pin molex to 6 pin PCI is the way to go, not too expensive and will supply the right power. As far as I know the 8 pin PCI is specifically for PCI 2.0(could be wrong on this one) and the grounding wires are different, will prob smoke the card.

better to get the right cable. If you like your pc hardware that is.
