It is absolutely ridiculous how bad your network is. I have full 3G coverage and yet still the worst latency I have ever seen, and on top of that my connection keeps dropping constantly with timeouts on almost every download. That's data I'm losing because of your sh*t network! And who has to foot the bill? ME! How many times have there been said on this very forum that your latencies are unacceptable, yet NOTHING is actually done about it. I can't even browse like a normal person. And this has nothing to do with my area. No matter where I go or which device I use, same thing all the time. I'm done. I am willing to pay another operator more for a proper connection.

I have 8GB that expire tomorrow because I can barely browse on their network anymore.

*sigh*

It could be that you have many 8ta subscribers in your area and with it being the last few hours of the month, people are trying to finish their bundles. In 5min it will be all better.

My latency is also up to around 300ms from a usual 45ms.

I'm in Century City now and disconnecting every 5 mins.

It gets even worse at home!

Always happens to me. Last day of the month gets so crap i dont bother playing or downloading etc...
But on the 1st everything works great again.

Hi there!

If you're experience with 8ta is bad, you need to report it to us. We have a template as a guide to report this and we will follow up accordingly. The more people reporting a query and it may be linked to a specific tower, the easier it will be for us to locate the problem and resolve it.

No offence to you personally, but that template is ridiculous. I get almost halfway everytime and then just think screw it. It's too long. What about someone phoning us back and we tell them all about our life stories, instead of filling it in like that?

500ms ping local, 1200ms ping to EU. 25% packet loss...after 6pm every evening. I don't think there is anything that can be done about this guys. It is clearly network congestion, they over sold and under invested in their infrastructure and now we are all screwed. This is affecting customers all around the country across different towers. "Pin pointing" the issue is pretty much useless, fixes will always just be temporary. In the end I guess we all got what we paid for, a cheap sub par internet service.

That's the reality of it, and it sucks. Thanks 8ta...

Hi there

This is the first complaint about the template. We will try and trim it some more. If you can, send us your half completed form until or this mini template:

Name and Surname:
8ta Number(s):
Alternate Contact Number(s):
8ta Product:
Physical Address:
Date problem detected:
Device(s) used:
Signal Bars:
Time of day problem occurs (if not all the time):
Problem description:

We can take it further from here.

If more information is required, we will contact you. The template we have provided is so that the query can be logged easier and the process will run quicker due to us not required to call you for more information.

We also have a call centre (081 183) who will be able to assist with logging your query

Hi Effjh

Apologies if you feel this way. By reporting this, we will be able to provide you with feedback and work towards fixing the issue permanently.
There are customers getting good pings locally and internationally (see http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/263479-3G-HSDPA-Speedtest-Results/page30)

To be honest..IF I sit infront of the internet the entire day, I would also get good pings from time to time.. The issue is that its never stable , during the day pings/latency looks good but when 6pm comes, it all goes down the drain , ask these ppl with the good pings to do the test at 7pm, should result in a different outcome...

Lets be honest, most of those pings aren't exactly "good", and it ranges from 50ms local to 350ms...this is my point exactly: I also have good stable pings every day, until a certain time, which just happens to be when more people are at home and most people who use this connection for Skype/Gaming notices and posts their findings. This points to one thing only..Network Congestion. Too many users, too little bandwidth. In short, you over sold your product with little regard for the quality of service your network would be able to deliver. I'll amuse you and do the template AGAIN, but you and I both know it won't really offer any permanent solutions any time soon.

Browsing is fine, not great. You will get by with most people unaware of the issues, but for some of us who need latency and packet integrity your service has become useless. Yes it wasn't always like this, I think it has been well documented on this forum here how the network has gone backwards. This can only be attributed to congestion and lacking infrastructure. It is a shame as originally you offered a great package at a very affordable price. Money talks though, and now the customers suffer.

Hi there

We have the network team now monitoring this thread.

If you have not already done this - please use this thread to post your area (e.g. Oranjesig, Bloemfontein), time of day the test was made, as well as tracert results locally and internationally so the routing can be analyzed?

I have the same problem. 8ta have done nothing but waste my money and take up my time. Web page timeouts. disconnections... THIS is why i will NOT be opening up any contract let alone buy r1 airtime!

I am having problems in Groningen St, Kabega Park, Port Elizabeth.
I experience the bad speeds and incredibly high latency at any time of the day.
My 8ta internet just dies after a while and i have to reconnect so gaming is out of the question for me and downloads fail because the connection drops.

Hi robertwj

Please can you provide us with tracert results?
