Okay so whats going on here, I might have read incorrectly but I see prophecy advertising having stock of the new G92 8800GTS?
And at a hectic price too, granted its not that much faster than the 8800GT but I really didnt expect them here this soon.

But....

“With that said, the GTS 512's big Achilles' heel comes in the form of a sibling rivalry. The specs say the GTS 512 is better than the 8800 GT thanks to its additional SP cluster, which grants it more texture filtering and shader processing power. But the real-world games we tested say the true limitations right now look to be pixel fill rates and memory bandwidth, where the GTS 512 barely leads the 8800 GT at all. That's especially the case once you throw a "factory overclocked" 8800 GT into the mix. We tested one from MSI, but many companies offer similar cards. Even if you factor in the price premium you'll pay for the higher-clocked version of 8800 GT and the premium due to the GT's relative scarcity, the 8800 GT OC looks to be a better deal than the GTS 512.”

When they put a factory or manually overclocked 8800GTS G92 in then it beat the GT by a fair deal, the GTS is also marked at R3399 which is frikken awesome and the big winner with it is the waaay better cooling.

Neither of them are worth it if you already own an 8800 gtx, ultra or 640mb gts rather wait for the Feb launch of the new high end cards imho.

I currently have have a 6600GT so its a new card for meeee!
lets hope the whole 65nm process makes all the cards cheaper.

Rocket-Boy ... 2 more posts and you will have 1337 posts :D

This is interesting: http://en.expreview.com/?p=102
Seems the extra 16SP units on the new GTS don't help that much. That leaves it with a small clock increase on the GT.

I wouldn't pay the current (prophecy is the cheapest) price for this card when you can get a 8800GT for R2300.

The Asus cards should be around that price.

Slick at pcbuyersguide.co.za (under dealers) has them, and computeronly.co.za have them for R2399.

Decisions....

hmmm...what to do what to do....buy a GT or this new GTS?....decisions....

Im thinking of buying the 8800GT XXX Edition for R3200 but Im also thinking of buying the 8800GTS G92 for R3400...decisions....

I'm impressed with the 8800GT so I'd probably buy it if I were you :)

But for a R200 difference i would definately rather go for the GTS.

Not a hard one. Don't rip yourself off with the XFX card at those prices, and the performance increase isn't worth the cost for a 8800GTS over any other 8800GT imo.

Get a cheaper brand like Chaintech, Asus or Innod3D. They will be just as good as the XFX card. But prophecy shop is closed for the holidays and I'm not sure who has cards anymore. I'm sure you can get something a lot cheaper than R3200 then I'd go with that.
