8800gts 640mb vs. 8800gt

Isn't the 8800GT only faster than the 8800GTS 320MB card?

It depends at what resolution and whether aa is used. If you already have an 8800gts just oc it with riva tuner and you will reach the 4 fps gap there's between the two cards.
If you already have an 8800gts 640mb the 8800 gt isn't a worthwhile upgrade. If you have an 8800gts 320mb it is worth the upgrade.

i have an 8800 gts 640Mb and the card is awesome enuff for crysis. you cant play it on High with 1680 resolution, but still performs if you find a nice balance.
however the GT is better, but i aint gonna go out and purchase one.

not really the 8800gts 320 and 640 meg are basically the
what seps them is high resolutions, 1680 and under the card perform almost the same
the 8800gt decimates both cards
u may think 6fps on crysis is small but its actually huge

Like I said you could just overclock the 640mb card and reach that 6fps. It's not big enough of a difference to warrant spending R2500. Rather wait for a card which makes a real difference.
Obviously if you are buying right now you should go for 8800gt. But it doesn't beat the 8800gts 640mb by a massive margin to justify upgrading from the 8800gts to the 8800gt.

I was talking about the games and whether it's worth to spend R2500 on a new gfx for a 6 fps gain when you can just oc the card and wait a few months for something which will hopefully be making a real difference.
I was also thinking of replacing my 8800gts with an 8800gt and then again replacing my 8800gt when the 9 series launched but in the end after debating this with quite a few people. I released it would be too expensive for just a few frames gain to take a loss on a card twice. So I am sitting tight till 9800gtx/gt arrives. Hopefully one of them makes it in March.
