8GB RAM in MacBook/MacBook Pro

Apparently this is possible with Santa Rosa and Peryn chipsets.

Well, the 8GB problem seems to be specific to the Kingston modules - one of the comments said it's working fine with another brand. Leopard is 64bit and supports that much memory. As long as the chipset supports it and there aren't any compatibility issues, it should be fine.

Not that I'm going to try it any time soon. I have 4GB already - enough for my needs. My next purchase is a 500GB disc.

5400rpm. I don't think the 500GB is available in a 7200rpm and I need the space (and battery life) more.

That 7200 was a noticeable improvement but I probably use mine for more intensive apps. While you're partitioning are you going to yourself a nice sized hidden scratch disk for PS?

Well, Aperture is heavy on disc with the large-ish raw files, but I don't do enough work with it that it bothers me. For working with VMware (work stuff) extra disc speed helps, but I have my VMs on an external disc that's 7200rpm, so it doesn't slow down my notebook.

I don't use PS much.
