According to LaptopDirect
The Samsung RV510 Notebook NP-RV510-A02ZA has the following specifications:
SAMSUNG RV510 Series Notebook Black/Silver (NP-RV510-A02ZA), RV510 series, Intel Celeron Dual Core T3500 2.1GHz 800Mhz FSB 1MB L2 Cache, 2048MB DDR3-1066 SO-Dimm Memory (1x2048), 320GB 5400rpm SATA Hard Drive, 15.6" WXGA HD Superbright Gloss (1366x768 resolution) TFT LCD Display, DVD Super Multi writer optical drive, Intel Shared Graphics, 10/100 Ethernet LAN, 1.3MP Webcam, 6 cell battery, Microsoft Windows 7 Home Basic Edition 32.
So yes, the specifications are correct.

I can't seem to find specifications for the Samsung NP-R540-JA01ZA.
The closest I could search was the SAMSUNG R540-JS01ZA
http://www.comx.co.za/Buy-Notebooks-Laptops-SAMSUNG-R540-JS01ZA-Samsung-R540-Notebook-lp-36807.php

BTW you have a link of these "specials?"

the link is : http://www.8ta.com/deals/

they sent me a mail with these links:

Good day

Thank you for contacting 8ta.

You can read more about the Samsung R510 here:
http://www.samsung.com/za/consumer/...dex.idx?pagetype=prd_detail&tab=specification

And from the R540 here:
http://www.samsung.com/hk_en/consum...dex.idx?pagetype=prd_detail&tab=specification

Please also read our Terms and Conditions as the final product might differ from these specifications:
http://www.8ta.com/terms/

But then send me a mail with the specs i gave you at the begining

Well, something's fishy. (Or legit?)
I mean the store gives you a brochure(?) with the Samsung NP-RV510-A02ZA model which the specifications are correct, no prob.

But then, on the same brochure(?) the Samsung R540, [1]NP-R540-JA01ZA model is different from the one [2] specified on the link to the Samsung site from the e-mail, which is R540JS02. And the specifications are totally different...

Can someone clarify this matter?

well i would love to find out what is happening there. please could someone let us know what the actual low down is.

The R590 is the same price as the R540 on the Internet 3 deal?!?

Those notebooks are also advertised today in a full page 8ta ad in the Cape Times. The ad's specs are different - i.e. for internet 2 the RV510 has 3GB RAM and a Intel T4500 processor. If Telkom has any honour, I think if you demand to get the faster machine with more RAM they should give that to you?

I saw that in the paper as well. Even more importantly, the paper says PM X 24 under the price which I take to mean a 2 year contract wheras the link provided above to their website show a 3 year contract so what gives? I would NEVER take out a 3 year contract!

Heres the specs from todays paper in order of contract number:

1) Samsung N230 (2Gig RAM, 250Gig HDD) + Huawei E153 + 650Mb/month = R195 PMX24

2) Samsung RV510 (3Gig RAM,320Gig HDD) + Huawei E173 + 1.5Gb/month = R280 PMX24

3) Samsung R540 (4Gig RAM, 500Gig HDD) + Huawei E1820 + 3.2Gb/month = R500 PMX24

So if they refuse to provide exactly what is advertised, surely they are breaking the law and can be taken to task? Arm yourself with the newspaper advert, and demand what they advertise at the store. Kick up a fuss until they give you what they promised. Get them to find stock while you wait if they use the old out of stock excuse, stock distribution is not your problem! Bring on the consumer rights bill, we have been sh*fted for way too long!!
