8ta sim problem

I've been without Adsl since 12 October 2015. Some feckers stole the cable. Still hasn't been replaced.

So I started to use my 8ta sim again. Loaded a data bundle and everything worked fine until this morning. I get an error message that there is no sim available. I tried it in 2 different modems.

Does this now mean that the sim card is no good anymore ?

We don't have a telkom store where I stay. Can I just buy a new sim card anywhere and do a sim swap ? It is prepaid. What is the procedure ?

I had this problem a while back when my 8ta sim was close to 2 years old. I just took it to a store and they did a sim swap. Mine was free because I was on contract so I'm guessing there will be a fee if you are on prepaid, shouldn't be much.

New sim has worked perfectly since the swap.

Remember to take your ID and proof of address.
