Help please,

I just noticed a small crack in the inside circle of my Dirt DVD. I guess it's from putting it in and taking it out of the cover. I can still read the DVD, but I'm worried it might shatter in the Xbox360.

Is there a way I can make a backup. I don't want to lose R550 and my game because of this. Please any advice.

No not without chipping your XBOX thus voiding your warentee.

I guess I have to live on the edge and use the DVD, hopefully it won't crack any further.

Bostik has become my new best friend. Waiting for it to dry and then I'm trying my DVD again.

Why don't you contact the local distributors (like megarom etc) and ask them to replace it, maybe at a slight cost or e-mail the people who distribute it.

I had this problem a few years back with Baldurs gate, I e-mailed them and they were like so helpful, I had to send them all the disks and they replaced it (at no cost) with a DVD (original etc)

I never hurts to just ask and be nice about it, explain it, worst that could happen is the cost for postage / courier.

DVD spinning == heat

Heat == melting bostik

melting bostik == messing up DVD rom

messing up DVD rom == messing up XBOX

No?

I was thinking the same thing, but I'm sure bostik can maybe handle the heat... It doesn't get that hot but also it could.
I guess so long he doesn't play the game for 10 hours straight... haha.
Too bad he doesn't have a PC version, he could use a "NO CD" fix on it :)
PC FTW!

How about sticking on one of those mini dvd labels?

I've used it once, but now I'm too scared to use it again. I bought it from BT-Games (Tygervalley), the guy there said that I must contact the JHB branch because he doesn't now if he can help me. Left a message this morning at 9am, no call back yet (11am).

Otherwise who imports Dirt into South Africa? Is it Megarom?

Check the documentation that you got with the game. Most of my games' instruction booklet(s) has some info regarding the steps to follow with a cracked/broken/damaged disk.

Well, I've asked BT-Games for a swop out in an email I sent to them. I hope they can organise it.

'Dirt' was the only game I had to keep me busy until Bioshock comes out..aaaahhhh. oh yes I've got Worms and Uno as well, but it's just not the same.

Get Geometry Wars, Bomberman and Boom Boom Rocket as well... Those are the ones I use to pass time if I don't feel like playing a full game.

Geometry wars gets insane.

Just want to say thank you to MiDigital and BTGames for helping me out with my disc. :D (After asking very nicely a few times, as they don't usually exchange the disc's).

Just in time for the weekend, back to the Dirt track.. (still waiting for Bioshock to come in the post)

I only notice now that Dirt can go up to 1080p, anybody tried this? My LCD can only go up to 1080i (I'm I missing anything?)

If your tv is smaller than 42" you won't notice a difference between 720p and 1080p.

I was told not to use 1080i as it's actually worse than 720p

There's 1080i HD and there's 1080i "HD Ready", my telly is the later :(

Basically, if a source is 1080i, it should be fine - 1920x1080@30fps (25 for PAL)

The nasty is if the telly is an "HD Ready" SDTV - it interlaces the the frame and what you really get is basically 540p.
