Just one question regarding this gpu before i buy it tomorrow, is it compatible with non-nvidia chipsets?

Becaus i have a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R motherboard and it does not support SLi, so will the gpu still run in SLi mode even if i don't have an nvidia chipset or will only one card work?

Yes, it is compatible. Sorry flashfire208, if I might have confused you.

Yea well when your not gaming you don't really need both cards to be running, yes in the nv control panel, takes about 5 seconds :), then when your going to game just enable and play.

Ok, i just got the card and i'm having trouble getting it to work. The green power lights come on and everything seems fine but it does not output anything to the screen! I'm using a Gigabyte Odin 585W power supply

It is possible that the PSU is insufficient for the card. Recommended is minimum 580W with supposedly 40A on a single rail. Looks like the ODIN supplies a maximum of 30A per single rail.

This is just one possibility of course. Im hoping its just the 8pin connection that you set up rather.

I don't think it's the 8 pin thing i set up. If that was the problem wouldn't the leds by the power connector be red instead of green?

Well if both lights are green it means the power supply is fine.

Have you tried both ports at the back of the card or only one?

Ive tried both the ports, even used the dvi vga adapter to see if maybe that would work and nothing...

I've also booted up with the card installed and a dodge pci graphics card i have, i got output from the pci graphics card and in windows the 9800GX2 is not being picked up. But all lights on it are green

No worries, i think it's the psu, don't know how but it is. I just tried this generic 400w power supply with 16A on the 12v rail  and it booted up the first time. I really don't know whats cutting here

Thanks to everyone that helped me get this thing up and running :)

oh, and it does not run very hot, idles at ~45 degrees

Say what...? Thats uber weird. Did you use your modified 8pin connector with the 400W as well?

Yes, i did! It works, i don't care how but it works, so go ahead and make your one (the adapter that is)

i'm just running 3dmark to see if it's stable with this psu

So did you connect two separate 4 pin molex connectors from the PSU to the "2X4 pin to 6 pin adapter which to modified to an 8pin? The reason that im asking is perhaps you initially you connected one 4 pin molex(which then has two molex adapters splitting from the original single output) to the 2x4pin molex to 6 pin adapter but now with the 400W you have connected two separate molex outputs to the "2x4pin molex to 6 pin adapter?(just a possibility:))

Hope this makes sense somehow...I can see how it would sound very confusing:eek: Lol

That is rather confusing, here's what i did. I have made 1x8pin adapter, it goes from 2 molex to 1x6pin adapter and then i have attached another 2 pins to the 6 pin end by cutting the 2 pins off an old psu's mobo power cable. I used the adapter with the Gigabyte psu and the card did not output to screen but the lights were green, i then swapped the gigabyte with a generic 400w and used the same adapter again and everything is working just fine (i hope i did not confuse you now) :)
