A Blank Screen. HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Avast Virus package expired today and because i had it on a SACM disc i just reinstalled it.

well i set it to run a scan when the computer starts so it gives a windows blue screen and runs a scan.

i stopped the scan and went online and all was fine till the programme updated itself and asked me to reboot my pc for it to work properly but now after reboot it leaves me with a blank screen and thats it.

i am on the internet thru my other harddrive and wonder can i delete Avast from my original haddrive thru this second one?
 
Did you log on at all after rebooting?? If not try push F8 when you PC boots and select last known good configuration. Will only work if you did not logon after updating the software....
 
ok what i did was first set my boot sequence back to the original harddrive then when it booted up i kept pushing f8 hoping to get to the safe mode screen and it came on as if nothing was wrong.

now do i chalk it up as coincidence that it came on or did the pushing of the f8 key do it.

i reset the settings for Avast so i hope it is ok now, thanks for the help guys much appreciated.
 
you can goto "Backup and Restore Center ", and restore the system.
 
i think it might have something to do with heat or monitor because it happened again last night and i switched off and when i came back on a few mins later it was ok.

i actually just did a restore point this morning about 11am.

anything is possible with the heat in CT this weekend - it's dreadfull! Aircon has been for most of the weekend.

My GPU started overheating too!
 
i hope it is that and not anything much worse. the room i have the pc in does get hotter than the rest of the house.
