A blueprint for Telkom's future

It is not a question of when but rather that is going to happen no matter what anyone says. The article is very good and interesting.
 
Makes me think of the insurance industry and major car manufacturers like GM.

Many faces to the same beast.
 
Who remembers that drive Telkom had a couple of years ago to get Joe Public to buy shares in them? Any idea how much of Telkom is owned by the public? They must be doing pretty well now.

They will split up, but some sort of cozy arrangement will still exists between the various departments... as usual...

The pressure is mounting.
 
They'll never split up voluntarily. Not unless they can sell off certain sections for a decent price. Government should have split them when Telkom was privatised and we'll be paying for that mistake well into the future.
 
2010 is a not far.. like just over 2.5 yrs from now. Unless something major happens i don't think it will happen by then.
 
So that is a blue print of Germany's Telekom . Also first with Bundespost
Than Telekom afterwards local loop unbundling then they created
T-Com-T-Mobile- T-Systems & lost around 10 Million fixed lines to the
competition but still have around 45 Million lines. Now the EU Commission
is investigating the monopoly on the 100Mb Fibre Optic which they are putting in place and offering allready TV-IP-Voip on one link. Also Music downloads are from them. But it is the same attitude like Telkom. So I think they got here advice from German Telekom

That is seriously an incredible article - it's good to see SA has some solid journalists... now if only the same applied to our fixed-line operators :D

just wish the same applied to our wonderful communications department - there is definitely nothing solid about them, except for the "mass" between their ears
 
I think Vodacom should have been mentioned as a 5th operating entity. That is where most of the profit comes from anyhow!

Perhaps Alan Knott-Craig should be appointed Telkom CEO, but he probably does not want the job!
 
This being SA and everything being imminent.... I'm willing to take the counter bet
