A choice between 2 GPU's

Bought the HD 8750 X2.

It does not work with my MB - a Asus A8N32 SLi Deluxe.

The system boots - can hear the startup sound and so but there's no display.

Tested the PCI slot with the old card - it works. Tested the new ATI card on a other system - it works.

Any ideas?

Sounds like a psu issue. Did you try testing with the other system's psu in your own system??

Sorry it's a 3870.

It's not the PSU.

It's 99% the MB. Need to upgrade the Bios. None of my stiffy drives work.

Can one not make a bootable CD-Rom?

I am not a big ATI fan, but the HD3870x2 will be a bit faster. The apps / games will need to be optimized for the two cores though.
really?

hmmm, maybe i was lied to

I googled a lot of ATI cards that dont boot...someone said something about a loose volt stabilizer or something...

I had a X1600pro that wouldnt boot.

By not booting I meant all fans and lights go on....and stays that way.

Well let me know if u find the prob, coz I updated the bios and still the same...but it was a 2nd hand though...which "apparently" use to work.

ps. the motherboard was also an asus...maybe a compatibility prob? Who knows

The same okie told me if another ATI card works in ur system then flashing ur bios wont make a diff....I didnt believe him and flashed my bios (via windows though) and it didnt work :(

Anyways, before u flash try another ati card in it.
If its incompatible then u know its ur motherboard...if not then u might have to take the card back and wait for a 9800GTX :D

motherboard needs updating... (have a number of 3870X2 cards at my disposal and the anti static packs have a sticker saying "due to the nature of this product a bios update may be necessary for motherboard before operation"
Also try selecting first VGA boot priority to PEG2 instead of PEG1 in your bios.
