Need some help.

I am considering to upgrade my GPU - still have a 7900 in there and it just does not work with my new and most favourite game, CRYSIS.

So it's between two cards (I don’t want to wait for the 9800 cards nor do I want to pay more than R6000).

Card 1: ATI HD3870 X2 1gb
Card 2: Nvidia 8800GTS 512MB

Which one will give me the best all-round performance?

Any other suggestions?

Thanks

yea but wait and see how much the 9800gx2 or gtx will be and performance

im almost positive that the 9800gtx will beat the ati card and cost about the same

if you cannot wait go for ati

The 9800gtx will go for more than R7000. I can get a Gecube HD3870 X2 1gb for R4672.

Go for the ATI if you have decent cooling in your case. Those things run hot.

9800gx2 is R7000. 9800gtx will be cheaper . Not sure how much we will be ripped off yet but the US prices are between $300 - $350.

well lets put it this way nvidia will need the 9800gtx to compete with the ati x2 so i dont think it will be more than 5k

A question:

If I go for the HD 3870 X2 do I need a motherboard that support crosfire?

Bought the HD 8750 X2.

It does not work with my MB - a Asus A8N32 SLi Deluxe.

The system boots - can hear the startup sound and so but there's no display.

Tested the PCI slot with the old card - it works. Tested the new ATI card on a other system - it works.

Any ideas?

Google for either 1. Mobo support/user/enthusiast forum or 2. ATI support or enthusiast forum and tell them your problem. Or find an overseas gamers forum.

You may be able to get it to work if you upgrade your mobo firmware.
Perhaps there is a jumper you need to change etc. Try contacting support
either mobo or GeCube.

That does it. I run Vista and there's no flash prog for it. Don't own a stiffy drive. Any ideas?

never heard of 8750 x2

surely the asus update program does work with vista

if not load xp and do it that way

huh?

i thought they may have released another x2

i also never knew they released the 3750x2

i thought they only released a 3870x2

not unless you planning on putting 2 3870x2's together

the x2 workx the same as a single core card

That would be Ubber cool! 2GB's of Vram, lol kind of a waste tho! :p

HD3870X2 for sure ;)

Why?

No use in buing the 9800GX to get 10-20% more performance when in 6 - 8 months it willl be replaced...
plus
it's hella cheap! :D

Tested pci slot, what was the old card ?

Old 939 build, do you have a psu capable of handling the card ?
