A Cold Day in Hell: Microsoft posts Linux installation tutorial

You cannot really own a distro, can you? Basically goodwill, a client base for support and a few people.
Maybe I phrased that incorrectly. Which company that maintains a specific distro are Microsoft interested in buying? As quoted below.
Many people would not be surprised if they acquired Canonical at some point

Not arguing with you. Just wondering how M$ sees it fitting into their business plan. Maybe they are after Canonical's (e.g.) people and how they service the market. There is very little IP they will acquire.

I've been using wsl2 for programming and it's really been such a relief not having to dual boot all the time.

I wonder if that's the point?
