A Communication from the IS CEO - ADSLSolution

The 1 November changes are not only going to lead to less people signing up for ADSL, but it will have a knock-on effect that

a) the people who have ADSL will use it less to avoid being cut off - so much for information society
b) ISP's will lose out as less people won't buy more accounts - too much money
c) ISP's selling SAIX only will lose out to people moving to IS
d) A great deal of people may move to a wireless service - ISP's lose out again
e) A great deal of people may downgrade to ISDN again
f) business owners will tell their staff to restrict their surfing habits, and will use the line for very little, such as banking & emailing
g) comapnies will fork out thousands a month for a VPN which was previously affordable
h) people will be paying over R600 a month for 100MB/day worth of usage
i)
j)
K)
etc etc etc

and in the meanwhile the Telkom shareholders are rubbing their hands together because this is exactly what they want. More money for less.

They are the embodiment of an Unproudly South African company.

lets not forget the hardcap that saix is implementing. for the same price why not move over to IS and still get local access. let's face it, not everybody uses their adsl for online gaming. for everything else IS should be more than adequate compared to saix.

my personal opinion for gamers is to get a 1gig unshaped saix account for online gaming, and use IS for everything else. try and stagnate telkoms revenue as much as we can

They're not going to get off that easy.

Actually I think they will get off easily. Eventually, hopefully before we are all old and grey, Telkom will be forced by competitors to provide a proper service at a fair price.

Telkom is just a corporate image with billions to spend. When they are ready to change they will simply re-invent their corporate image using clever marketing and other tricks.

By then nobody will ever even remember Evil Telkom except for like 0.00001% of hardliners. All will be for forgotten and forgiven. Life is like that. It is the sad reality of consumer apathy and evil corporate marketing.

In the interim Telkom will milk us for everything we have knowing they will NEVER be held accountable.

This is the reality.

MaD and Milano i completely agree with you guys.

I am going to personally avoid Telkom. When competition arises (hopefully sooner rather then later) I will not give telkom any of my money, no matter how cheap, good service, brilliant advertising they have. They can kiss my a**!!!!!
