Hmm, leave it to NightWulfe to possibly sink his teeth into this can of worms...
1) Registered memory is absolute overkill unless you're running a critical server.
2) A client of mine decided to go for iBurst (1024Kbps claimed) and managed to get a download rate of 4k/s in the North of Joburg. To put it in perspective, my TELKOM DSL192 manages about 35~45k/s on a good day, perhaps 20k/s on a bad one...
3) Motherboards I think have a bug built into them that makes them self-destruct at critical times of need. Never speak with your case open, it may pull a HAL stunt. "Hello Dave..." (bum bum buuuum) I personally find the ASUS or ECS boards to be the most reliable, GB used to be, but they're not doing so hot, and EPoX is bound to pull a "Stealth" maneuvre on you.
4) On the topic of bad hardware, never buy a Fujitsu hard drive, if you have an MPG series, use it as a paperweight now before you have no choice.
5) Haven't you already tried to advertise and got a snotty response?
6) Easiest way to see if your MoBo is giving grief, look at the capacitors (the cylindrical efforts all over the board), if their tops are flat, or have indents inwards (normally in the shape of X or K), they're fine. If any of them have bubbled, you can try your luck with a soldering iron or just buy a new board. Just don't push on any bubbled ones, you could lose your eyes if they're electrolytic.
7) In order to avoid tech difficulties with Telkom, don't go and use their supplied router. I won't even say do yourself a favour, its more like common logic to me, but get yourself a NetGear, Planet or Linksys router and be done with it. Oh, and there is a reason why none of the letters U, S, or B are used in the term, A, D, S and L. Will leave everyone to work that out...
Consider the can punctured...
