a good *budget* pot/cookware set?

I would not buy a set at all.

Rather decide what you need most and buy two or three from a decent middleground brand like Scanpan.

Or go nuts and buy one single thing from Le Cruset and buy another in a year.

Is le cruset really that good or is it running on a brand name?

It's that good. Go and get yourself a mug to start you will see. I have a huge collection of multicolour mugs. The colourful display makes me happy, I have been requesting them as gifts for year's.

I recently got a Le Cruset wok and it is fabulous! That being said the pots I use the most are a set of Gordon Ramsey stainless steel (Boardmans) and are really good on my gas stove, absolutely love them.

Rather get a good stainless steel frying pan and a medium pot to start you don't need much more and they will last a lifetime, you won't regret it. If you buy cheap stuff you will have inferior quality and will have to buy again every couple of years rather add to your collection slowly.

I sadly don't have any yet, but I believe they are really that good and fully intend to get them over time.

I have a very good cast iron that works well enough for now.

Will probablt buy a grill pan and wok first.

The recommended first item from them is one of the casserole pots though as it's more multifunctional.

At that price level you're not getting anything brand name. If I were in your position I'd shoot for a Legend set. It's mass produced chinese stuff but from experience I know it'll last a reasonable amount of time which is really all one can hope for at that price level.

Haha!
I already have a good one...
That's not a electric pressure cooker bru...

Bit of both. You pay premium for the top class brand name but it's also legit good. Plus their warranty terms are +- bulletproof

Indeed it isn't... but seeing as how cn@ ignored my OP and threw me a weak solution to a problem I don't even have, I don't feel too bad about it :p
Forum drama aside...the elecs are legit superior bru.

But that's beside the point.

Just get something reasonably legit and focus your energy on improving you've earning potential. 1.5k isn't exactly mad money

with stainless steel get some thing that has a good thick base usually sandwiched aluminum plate
helps it heat fast and evenly.

cheap pots are thin and develop heat spots that lead to uneaven cooking and burning as well as warping and denting
with their surfaces coming appart.

again buy some thing thats good as it will last a very long time with daily use.

theres just a few pots and pans that you need.

1. a cast iron skillet
2. a stainless steel frying pan
3. a non stick frying pan (if your doing eggs)

4. a enameled cast iron dutch oven
5. a sauce pan

6 a stock pot

i would advise getting a good frying pan thats quite versatile and then a caserole pot and a sauce pan.
then building onto from there as you need.
