here is a great tip from my experience with gprs and edge and 3g hsdpa,what ever the connection.
Ok do this let a program like yahoo messenger run in the background or skype,you dont have to use it just let it run in the background.
Your connection will be smoother and no connection resets will occur so many times.Plus your reload of pages will be smoother to.This i noticed months ago but thought it was not this so i tested it,and golly it works.
Firstly as my test was succesfull when i tried loading a site and it was slow,So i went into outlook and i did a send receive for mail,And what i noticed was that the connection sped up,
So i guess when send and receive packets is forced,then gprs is faster(what ever connection)
