I am looking to buy a new tablet, and Android was my first choice (motorola Xoom).
I am going to spain in 2 weeks and doesn't look like it will be released in europe by then, so i was considering and IPAD, i already have an android phone and i think i will be fun to try something new.

whats always bothers me about apple is how they lock down the system and how they save basic feature for later versions (SD CARD???).
so, my question is, what can a jail broken IPAD can actually do?

can i connect my ipad to my laptop, copy a movie and watch on the IPAD?
can i copy anything to the IPAD like a normal flash drive or do i still need to use itunes?
it seems like a basic feature to me....

I m in the process of moving to linux, can i use itunes with Linux?

can i use 3rd party applications?
can i use the USB as a host? (connect keyboard, mouse, flash drive?)
Thanks,Bar1

Well to answer you I will ask a question 1st:
What are you planning to use the tablet for?

If its for gaming/media consumption go iPad, reason I am saying that is cause there is currently very little support for applications on Android devices. I know this is odd coming from a serious Android fan. It's just that it will take at least a year for android to play catch up esp seeing that we don't have access to paidfor market.

If you looking for a computer away from your desk go Android.

And no iPad does not have the ability to use it as a USB dongle or host device.

And no Apple product and Linux do not play together at all so if you don't have access to M$ or OSX AND itunes your iPad's going to be a lower.

you get an app called Air Video, this will let you stream movies over your network without having to connect the ipad to itunes. and it play pretty much all formats, even mkv.. You can purchase a special keyboard for the ipad but it doesnt have a usb port so you can't connect a flash drive. As far as i know there is an app that lets you use your iphone/ipad as a mass storage device but i've never used it. Most apps need to be purchased but if you jailbreak it, you'll be able to download them for free (not legally of course) as well as loads of other 3rd paty apps...
