A late sober October

I hardly consume even 6 Savannah's a month, so luckily I do not have such a problem.

Gotta say, all the shyt going on in this country has made me polish off whiskey way quicker than usual.

So this whiskey thing... how does one drink it if new to whiskey? Someone gave me Glen Grant 10 years single malt for my birthday...

Ok found a photo for Greg from July ... getting off topic but anyway . Dammit only me and moose so far . That was on a good day .20180720_073632.jpeg

On the rocks: add a couple of ice cubes. If you can't be arsed, add a couple of drops of water.

It's crap whiskey! Send it to me, I'll get rid of it for you...

I haven't had a drop of alcohol this entire month. Neither myself nor my girlfriend are big drinkers which has made it easier. So far so good but I am looking forward to having a whisky in early November...

However you like it, I prefer mine largely neat with a few ice blocks, every now and then if it is a really nice whisky I will throw in my whisky rocks and leave the ice out.

Hey guys and pretending to be girls .

Speak for yourself.

I suggest you get yourself to an AA or NA meeting, find a sponsor and start the 12 steps.

Relying on narcotics to ease symptoms of anxiety or depression is not ideal.

Narcotics? He spoke about mushrooms. They are emerging as safer and more effective than many of the prescription medications that might otherwise be dispensed. A substance being illegal and therefore branded a narcotic does not necessarily make it bad.

I will concede though that acquiring said item and the risks associated with that do make it less than ideal. But given that shrooms are neither physically harmful nor addictive, I hardly think NA is the place. NA is for harder stuff.

Get off your high horse. NA and AA follow the same steps. Therefore, he can go to either meeting to deal with his alcohol addiction. He will however have to deal with his use of substances to allow him to cope before he can be fully classified as "recovering".

I have actually met Greg so he kinda knows me.. Also judging me as a alcoholic etc is like wtf.

Not a "high" horse. LOL - my point is this: if the medication used for coping was venlor or cilift or even wellbutrin, would you have the same attitude (use of a substance/narcotic)? If so, then no foul. But if the attitude is purely to the classification of the treatment, then sending someone to deal with problems (you perceive) is dangerous. Like those teachers who tell parents that their kids should be on Ritalin.

This is not a thread to debate the benefits of certain drugs, the morals of it, or the legality.

If you don't think you are an alcoholic, then take the test:

Becoming bored without the use of alcohol, daily use of alcohol or thinking a month without drinking is a long time talks to a bit of dependency. Just something to think about. You already say you have anxiety and depression and using other substances to cope. I suggest you speak to someone about it. There is nothing wrong with reaching out and asking for help. It is a lot more common than people believe.

Can I just leave something here?

AA is not a non-drinking society. The AA program is a design, a program if you will, for living a life where you don't need a drink to meet life on life's terms. The Big Book of AA even goes to say outright that the bottles were merely a sign, and that the real problem of the person who ends up unable to control their drinking is their thoughts, emotions and attitudes.

Good god.

I am proof of the contrary.

Please be careful what you preach and who you preach it to...
