A look behind CIPRO's replacement website's problems

Can anybody tell me what company or individual was responsible for desigining this website? I need to know so that I can avoid this company/person like the black plague!

Dude, you probably couldn't afford it.

They probably quoted guavamunt R 150 million for the site.
Invoiced for R 300 million as a deposit and will get a settlement from guavamunt of another R 250 million for not sueing. :D

Frankly im surprised its still there.

So the CIPRO website is

“un-user friendly”

What are un-users? Are they anything like the un-dead? Whatever they are, at least they seem to find the site friendly, unlike everyone else.

I had a quick look at the site and it does not look "un-userfriendly" to me... looks pretty straightforward website. However when you click on certain areas you are taken back to the OLD Cipro website and that is another story.... that looks like something out of Noah's ark.

Bottom line is that I don't think the problem is with the website design - the problem is the pathetic incompetence of everyone working at Cipro/Cipc who can't set up a proper call center or do their job of registering companies properly because they are to busy with their finger up their noses.

Checked out the website and – wow – am I impressed! Whoever thought that a bunch of primary school kids could design a web site? What? – it wasn't school kids?

In that case, the design is pathetic. It look's like something from 1997. As for as organization, that's a bit better. But still, if you wanted to register a new company (or a trademark, copyright, etc) where do you click? Am I a "customer"? Do I need to register with them first?

Finally, it's missing a huge opportunity to help guide people through the process. What do I need to do to start a company? How do I register for tax? I know that latter part falls under SARS, but if you want to promote entrepreneurship it would make sense for the two organizations to work together to stream line the process.

Final Grade: C+

Try logging into their site.... disaster!

Now try getting anything done with the Compensation Commissioner: Non-existent web platform, entirely useless call centre, and antiquated declaration and claims procedures. Seems there a very few Gov departments that function to any degree of competency and efficiency... Let me not even get started on SARS, and they are supposed to be the best of the lot.

On the one hand Gov totes support for job creation and on the other they seem to do everything in their power to stop job creation dead in its tracks. Do they not realise that businesses can only be started and grown IF we have efficient state departments...no I guess they don't.

Not sure how many of you have used the site, the old one that is, but when you login as a user, you arent even linked to a specific company (as a company owner for instance), you can submit and pay for whatever company you want.

http://www.v1-design.com/ is in the whois details. Looking at how bad their site it, the CIPRO site doesn't surprise me much. (If, indeed, v1 is responsible).

It's awesome that some government is embracing web systems rather than setting up expensive SAP-like systems. Just wish they'd get people who understand how to integrate systems into web apps - heck, I'd offer to do the stratwork for them for free just to get some government depts "connected" to those they're supposed to serve.

If someone from CIPRO is monitoring this and wants some free help, PM me ;)
