Where could I get it?

I'd be willing to pay it off over a couple of years, 10 sounds good to me?

Does anyone have an idea who could assist me?

The reason being is:
I want to travel, see a few places I've dreamed of seeing. I've never been outside S.A.
I'd like to study and increase my knowledge, whilst still being able to live due to expenses.

It's a dream, but hey, if you have a million bucks you want to loan me, I'll gladly take it :p ;) :D

I'm no bank but you might need a better reason than that :D

I'd say the bank, but the truth is - probably nobody short of a loanshark.

Why? My increased knowledge during this period (I'm in IT) will be beneficial to any future employer, plus myself.

I don't like sharks. They eat fish :D

For a 10 year home loan (which is the most affordable type of loan), you would need to meet the following criteria:

So the first question is do you? If you don't then any other option is pretty much out the window. And no bank is going to give you a home loan to travel.

Rather save 10 grand a month and take an overseas holiday twice a year IMO...

I can only imagine what he'd owe a loanshark on a million after 10 years...makes that washing machine garnishee story look like a bargain :p

Don't think anyone will loan you that much for those reasons. At least not with decent rates.

It will be much cheaper to save extra and do your travelling as you can afford it. Get a student loan for the studies. But definitely, don't borrow money for travelling. Unless you have only a few months left to live. Then by all means. But then also forget about the studies...

Edit: Thanks
They won't even loan you the money ;)

You want a million bucks to travel :wtf: you want to go to the moon?

Haha, no, earthbound is fine with me. It's not just travelling. It's living costs etc.

Still expensive. You can travel overseas for what? Less then 100k then a flat for like 500k, car for 100k still leaves you with 300k to live with and study via Unisa or a tertiary college. Why people have to live large is beyond me. Live small with just the basics.

Me too. Also want to see the US of A and all those other places that I only see on TV. Let's start #TravelExpensesMustFall today and sit back to benefit from our efforts!

An unsecured R1bar loan?

Not going to happen.

If you had a house or something to take the loan out against then you might be in luck.

That said - if you are travelling what will your source of income be?

How do being well traveled give you IT knowledge or be beneficial to an employer?

With your signature, I'm too scared you might start a cult...I mean church.

I'm out.

If you are smart you should be able to travel a year with around R250000 if you stay out of 1st World countries(where you are not going to get much life experience anyway). If you add casual work then you can bring that amount down to much less.

Here you go:

Seriously though? Do you think it matters that it is 'not just travelling'? Ask all the people who are living in shanty towns how successful they have been at getting R1M loans to study, travel, and live. It's almost a little offensive and flippant that you think someone would just love to sponsor you to have a jol and live around the world, when there are so many people in real need in this country who have real business dreams, or even simple dreams just to feed their kids and live in a formalized house. Hell, most would probably give anything to get a decent education in this country (let alone abroad).

I really hope this was a joke post...
