A question I thought I'd never ask... help me upgrade

Indeed I did. I'm no expert OC'er, so I just put the FSB to 334 and the multiplier to 9. Got a decent Zalman HSF, so I should get more out of it.
 
well then I guess this problem is solved :) I would go per Sharkbaits post, as long as u can hit 3 - 3.2 ghz I don't even think its necc to upgrade the mobo. Just get yourself a GPU upgrade and possibly a PSU
 
My mobo reports 3 hardware temps...

Processor Thermal Margin : -45 Delta
Internal Temp : 33.75 Celsius
Remote Temp : 37.25 Celsius

Which one is the actual CPU temp? How do I interpret the "delta"? Delta to what... the internal temp?

I'd download HWMonitor from CPUID and use that. That gives you temps for each core.
 
Hmm, I personally use coretemp so can't really comment on your PC. My understanding is coretemp actually uses temp and voltage readings from the CPU's themselves which to me is the most accurate by far, I generally sit around 20 degrees idle and go up to just under 50 on full load at 3.6 ghz

DDR stands for "double data rate", which implies that if CPU-z reports 560MHz for your RAM (DDR1 / DDR2 / DDR3), then it's actually running at 1120MHz.

Edit:
I didn't see that you have DDR3 1333MHz modules.

Update:
You might want to change your memory multiplier so that your RAM runs as close to 1333MHz.
I'm not sure what memory multipliers your board has, so I can't tell you which one to pick.

You can also try to run your FSB at 400MHz, instead of the stock 266MHz, but then you'll have to make sure that your South/North Bridge & CPU doesn't overheat.
This is a 50% overclock, so your CPU should run at 3.6GHz then. If your board has a 3:5 memory multiplier, then your RAM will run at 1333MHz when using this 400MHz FSB (probably 200MHz in BIOS though).

OCing and Intel mobos are never used in the same sentence. ;)
 
Well... after the CPU replacement (and a much needed format), The Witcher 2 at 1920 x 1200 and medium/low settings is playable. I think I can OC a bit more, and get it to medium settings.
