It was actually 'announced' by rpm and ic a while ago (after their meeting with Vodacom) but will be 'officially' launched this week. So the announcement is not new, thus my confusion about a new product.

I was actually surprised that the forum did not pick up on it at that time because it is a great idea and will help a lot of people to get online.

Something like this maybe? I have heard this being bandied about in the press by "Blue and Green", "Yello" as well as our beloved fixed-line operator.

The only other item of note was HSDPA but I thought that wasn't due until later in the year.

Can't say I'mm all that impressed with the offering: R850-odd for a low-end laptop with 1GB 3G over a 36-MONTH contract

R30,600 for a R5000 laptop with some broadband ... and who knows how much that will cost in 6 months let alone 36 months!!

MTN are known to be slightly more expensive than vodacom in all aspects. Not expecting a great deal from their 3G packages
