A truely interesting read!

Only this time around , all the developers are making games for the xbox and seems like ps3 is losing most of the games. I mean the xbox 360 is a cash cow for EA, Activation,
and Ubisoft,

And this time around the ps2 got decent competition. I mean who would have
thought that the wii would outsell the ps3 2:1 in the first year.

And the xbox have outsold the ps3 in japan in the last week.
 
Oh come on dude, if it was an article on xbox all you guys would be raving happy. Give the PS3 supporters some glory for a change, I posted it for them, not to start any ***.
 
PS3 supporters?.. its an article about the PS2...

The PS3 is a good system, but its apparently difficult to develop for, and even more so than in 2000, the development platform has to be good for the developers to want to use it. atm the xbox has the best development platform.
 
Are the roles not reversed this time round? If we assume that the PS3 is the more powerful, but later system, like the Xbox was last time round, then the 360 is going to do extremely well and the PS3 is going to lag behind. Wouldn't that be history repeating itself?

Why did the Dreamcast get canned?

Dreamcast was canned because of the release of the ps2, in combination with developers wanting to cash in on the ps2 hype, as well as running out of money to support it. Games like half-life etc was canned because the developers thought they would not make enought money (Attach rate)
out of it.

Xbox360 is busy kicking PS3 butt this time around.

Maybe the PS4 will be the victor next time ;).
 
Come guys, it's actually a pretty interesting read, it's very true - for the Dreamcast.

Unfortunately the analogue doesn't quite work because the Dreamcast had two major issues - small company with shallow pockets versus goliath, and lack of 3rd part support.

360 versus PS3 is more Goliath versus Godzilla, a more appropriate comparison is actually PS1 versus n64 (The irony of course is that the 360 is more like the PSone - new entrant from strong competitor making it to market early with lots of support versus PS3 "n64" - arrogant incumbent, expensive product, proprietary format "theoretically more powerful")

Ill admit its an interesting article, no relevance to the xbox360 vs ps3 tho

with that said, making a comment like "History Repeats itself...therefor...The PS3 will win the war!" (2 lazy to quote), and there being "so many of us and so little of you", u cant expect the xbox fanboys to stand and watch.... then again its a forum, discussions and arguements are commonplace.

Seconded, im a ps3 owner/supporter and ure startin ta get ma nutts in a knott- Xbox 360 is tops ( for now), lets live with it, we'll have our day in the sun real soon;)

Ey i tell ya i was really miffed when the dreamcast got taken off the market, i still play mine- megots aboot 20 games, there were some lovely titles!
 
Sheeeesh, digging up a 7 year old article hoping desperately that history will repeat itself that Sony's PlayStation (3) will beat Microsoft's XBox (360).

I think, to an extreme. The vicious cycle should repeat itself and Microsoft should eventually kill Sony like Sony did with SEGA. :D

Then MS can charge what they like for Titles because there is no competition.
