Hi Guys.

I'm looking at getting a PowerCom Black Knight Pro 1500VA UPS.
I have a 620Watt PSU, Samsung 2232 GW and a Canon MP800 Printer (Will the UPS be able to support the printers power cable?)

Do you think this is a good UPS and how long do you think the system will last for ... the ups is rated at 900W so I know it will power on the system.

I don't have much cash ... and R1700 is about the most I want to spend.

Regards

Itai

Please don't even bother with the printer. Printers pull allot of power. As standard you just get the printer a surge protector, to at least protect it a bit. Unless of course that UPS has a 'Printer' power port at the back that will also serve as a surge protector, but won't power the printer when the power goes out.

Oh ... according to the internet, the printer uses 20W operating power. Its not that I'm worried about a power surge ... my building is protected against power surges and lightning strikes ... it is that I need to print stuff in the mornings when my power is out.

My bad my bad. It's inkjet ain't it? I thought it was Laser :o so it should not be a problem then afaik. Don't know what power cable it uses so I don't know if it'll be able to plug into your UPS. I don't even bother with to plug my Printer into my UPS, as I don't use it that much.

Keenly looking at this thread cos I have teh same problem.

Itai, let us know what you decide.

Ha ... I'm cheaper ... sold one of those the other day for R1077 ... woo hoo :P ...
Back to the point though ... I will be looking at the 1500VA model of that Black Knight Pro. It says 70-80 minutes on PC with 15" monitor ... question is ... my PC uses a 620W PSU, and my 2232GW is 50W ... bringing total consumption to 670W ... so how do I work it out from there ... that 900W supplied by the UPS ... is it a Watt Hour ... so my 670W will last 80.59 minutes ... or how does it work?

Ya ... thats the only other problem ... I want something to last a couple hours (at least 1.5 - 2) ... I just wish I had the cash flow to buy something big enough like the intellipower.
