Hi,

Recently bought myself a digital camera (fuji S1800) to replace my old (very old) 3 Mega-pixel point and shoot.

Want to buy it some batteries (camera takes 4x aa's so I want at least 8 batteries) and a charger.

What would you suggest?

Uniross Hybrio - great batteries. Once you charge them, they stay charged. I know my older ones loose charge over time.

Price is decent too.

Alot cheaper than some of the other brands as well I see.

I used some of these and some energisers in my daughters baby monitor for a few months but that excersize seemed to kill them pretty quickly (tried taking them to the zoo for a few pics and between 2 sets I got 80 photos).

Most reviews put those two (sanyo eneloops, Uniross Hybrio in that order) at the top of the list.

What is the maximum mAh I can get these batteries in?

I use Fujifilm and Energizer 2500mAh, I tried some others but gave up on them as they never lasted more than a few hours

Also prefer those, the Energizer ones don't hold a charge for more than a few days.
Been let down by them many times.

Always keep some panasonic or eveready black batteries handy as a backup.
Duracell don't last long in cameras, only good for rabbits.

I'm still using Hybrios. I have a dozen Energizers but they turned out to be more suited for my kids toys than for my flash.

Hybrios are also readily available.

Where can you get genuine 2100mAh ones?

Can't remember, think I got some at Makro.

The older 2000mAh ones are red & black, and the newer 2100mAh ones are red & green. Think that's what it was, don't have any with me. Those are the Uniross batteries.

The Sanyo eneloops are white, I think that they only have the 2000mAh version. But the Sanyo's are rare, I imported a few.

All the ones I have found say 2100 on the packaging, but 1900 on the batteries.

Interesting, I must test a few of my batteries.

I have a fancy charger that charges the batteries, and then runs them down and measures their capacities.

I last used it to test some Sanyo 2700mAh, they actually tested at 2800mAh.

Most batteries test at way lower than indicated on the battery, especially the no-name brands. Sanyo make the best rechargeable batteries.

OK, I have found a set of the older batteries in my bag.

They are the black, green & red Uniross Hybrios - and they say 2100mAh on the batteries.

The newer ones are only green & red, but I don't have one of those with me.

I've got both red/green/black and red/green hybrios and they're all 2100s.

The newer red/green ones often claim to be 2100 on the packaging but when you look carefully 1900 is printed on the actual battery.
