It is supposedly legal. The site has been going for ages. Usually sites which host 'warez' get taken down very quickly.

Well, if it contains the serials for all the abandonware stuff, I don't see the problem
MS-DOS is available on the site, but it's definitely still the property of Microsoft (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/79747) - and since you have to register to download the SW I would be very hesitant to do so.
Someone who bought MS DOS back in the early 90s or 80s would still have all rights to DL the same version and install it on some emulator or old Pentium
machine. Your old disks may be misplaced, or demagnetised or maybe you don't own a 1.2" or 1.44" floppy drive anymore.

I tried googling vetusware too and haven't found any take down threats or other piracy notices. I would assume that MS would go after these guys (and many other sites like these).
