just moved to new place. no phone line, i think. i must confirm.
so i then convert the line to ADSL and pay monthly rental to telkom or Axxess?
then get a router by contract or once-off payment?
so thats R330 per month
plus once off router fee of R600
isn't there also a once off fee for the line installation?
And remember if you get your line rental from a third party like Axxess or Nashua or whoever, you can only get bandwidth from them. If your line provider is Telkom, you can get bandwidth from whoever you like.
which router should one get anyway? and best deal from where?
A nice linksys one. But remember there are routers and there are combo's; routers with modems and there are also basic modems only, like a USB one.
You need a DSL modem, and if you require, get a DSL modem / router combo, if you're a power user.
Check www.pricecheck.co.za for some online suppliers.
will i be a power user?![]()
If you need to ask, probably not.
Usually if you're going to connect more than one PC to the internet, or if you want to connect a wifi from a laptop for example.
Oh just check here for some prices. D-link, billion, netgear to mention a few good oneshttp://www.pricecheck.co.za/search/?search=dsl+modem+router&search_category_id=0&x=0&y=0
Just quickly.. How are you connecting to the internet at the moment?
