I just bought the game, ok I know a DL is coming, game starts and it tells me 60 K+ files to DL !!??!!! gets to 100 meg and then boom, DL starts from the beginning again...WTF!!! I had this experience with BF3 as well (I no longer play as a result), I buy a box version for a reason and then still have to DL basically the whole game ? If the game is DL only say so and I will gladly take my money elsewhere. Now I have to wait maybe 2 days on my 384 line to play what I just payed for, sadpanda !

This can be frustrating, can't you copy the game client from a friend?

Guild Wars 1 worked like that. I installed it on my laptop, then simply copied the fully updated client over to my girlfriend's pc so that she didn't have to update as well. Then she just had to replace my login details with her login details after launching the game.

Can't see why it wouldn't work.

Solution:
Get a 4meg line.

He will be holding out for the upgrade to 1Mbps probably. BIG difference between 384k and 1Mbps, but even bigger difference between 384k and 4/10Mbps.

Visited my folks about 2 weeks ago, used their 384k line to do some FTP uploads with one of my websites.... I thought I was going to die. I don't know how people can use it.

Upload on 384k only 64k.

Starcraft 2 had a 1GB patch recently.

Fortunately I could stop it and do it with my night surfer data.

Sorted.

First of all... calm down :)

Take a deep breath. Now relax.

You need to realise the nature of ALL mmorpg`s, well at least ones that are expecting to last long, is they do update continually. Media gets designed, published, and shipped, not on release date, but some weeks before. So, my only gripe with your comments is you make it sound like it is the developers fault for doing this most outragous act to you. For the record, the extra content should be about 20%.

Anyway, I hope you come right. If you were in CT, you could have picked it up from me. I would suggest you check out the largest GW2 website www.southernlegion.co.za, and find one of the many people in the Gauteng area that could be closer to you. The only problem is so many are now playing, that the forum is not that busy anymore :) SL guild just reached the maximum 500 members mark for guild members this evening. Though hopefully someone will respond.

Interesting you say that, when I started playing Eve Online I bought the disc at BT games, installed, updated maybe 40 Mb and started playing (even got a full month game time in the box). The thing that got my back up was how this game started, just like BF3 a large Dl after installing from disc then all the problems with Origin client ect. That (yes and other things) killed the BF franchise for me, so my concern was just that it starts out with so many fixes 2 days in to release. Don't get me wrong I will prob get my moneys worth as far as entertainment value out of the game, it just annoys me when game developers think they can ship a half completed product to customers and we must just suck it up and DL large files for fixes on day one and that seems to be a trend lately. Anyway its at 98% now so I will soon be on the field.;)

[-end rant]

2.6 GB exactly. The progress bar will show differently ,but this is the total size i downloaded.

Indeed, the progress bar indicates the percentage of files completed, not the size completed.
