Who considers themselves to have above average intelligence?

I was just wondering if eveyone thinks of themself as above average.
 
I do, but I do actually KNOW that I am.

I'm also left-handed, have an above average penis size, enjoy long walks on the beach, moonlit picnics and meaningful overnight relationships. Anything else?

Depends on what is average. If you are in a group of very smart people, the average would be higher, than say that of a whole country.
 
I've never taken a proper IQ test. I regard myself as pretty average when it comes to average, at least I see myself as no more intelligent that my friends and peers. I see all my abilities as pretty average though, so I might suffer from a self esteem issue though :p.

In any case, asking people how they rate their intelligence, and abilities is going to give you very misleading results. It's a well documented effect that people will little or no skill will over rate their abilities, while those with skills and a much higher ability than others will belittle themselves and regard themselves as average ;).

I'm not saying that either... If you intelligent, you can be confident about it, and even arrogant. However, it's just an effect that seems to carry a bit of weight. People that are really good looking, but are with a group of average looking folk will see themselves as average looking as per the trend, however, unless you went to a small school where friends are hard to come by, you more than likely to buddy up with other good looking people. It's just a mentality I guess. I dislike being told I'm intelligent, no one has proof of this fact then their own assumptions. I'd rather do something exceptional and prove to myself I'm pretty good at something than rely on the gospel according to everyone else.

Also, IQ's are highly subjective. If you've been educated and know that way of thinking, then you more likely to have an 'above average' intelligence. However, you can still be intelligent and just score low on the IQ test because you don't know things like like how to read and write ;).
 
The average IQ in SA is 72. That's borderline retarded.

If you're able to post here then I think it's safe to say that you're above average.
 
IQ isn't subjective, it's a precise empirical measure of absolutely nothing.

Agreed! :D - look at Idols for the perfect application of this effect.
 
I did an IQ test when I was about 7 or 8. Apparently the test results showed me up as freakin' genius.

...I think they got it wrong :/
