Absa allows mortgage skip

Ok, but please don't say that people deserve to be HIV+. You can get it from your boyfriend today, or your dentist, or from a transfusion etc...
Many people in this country do not know any better, you can't blame them for getting it.
Blame the education system if you must.
It’s a k@k excuse. Who in this country does not know about HIV? How do they not know better?

Sorry Alf, that is not doing it anymore. If I get it from my dentist I'll sue. My BF?? No Sorry we got tested. And no he does not cheat.. how do I know. I work and stay with him. A blood transfusion is about the only excuse that might be valid.
Yes it is education. But you still do not reward people for being a burden on our country.

Until they get better?
LOL:o Soz.. But LOL.. Beet and garlic Sloot!!! Beet!!

Absa's two main charities are AIDS and child headed households. I have no doubt that some of the debt will be ensured and another portion will be written down as part of its CSI programme.. if that's possible in terms of tax. I just don't think that the scheme is workable, because it will be difficult to tell whether the person isn't working because they have become ill, or if they just aren't working. I haven't seen the contract, and they may have all kinds of criteria that you need to prove before your payments are taken care of.. but when I saw this ALL kinds fo alarm bells went off. How on earth will they manage all of this. Maybe client will need a doctor's note proving that they cannot work, and that the payments will only be taken care of in so far as they also keep their job!?!?
See this was my reaction.

Is this all a plan to get more people tested? Why only HIV or do banks have this for say Cancer?

It seems like if Mila had her way, people with HIV would be shot on sight. What she doesn't take into consideration is that the person getting HIV is inmost cases a victim of some sort, i.e. rape, cheating, negligence etc.

Treated like leprosy was treated in the bible's time. That is the only way to stop HIV. Shooting will just end up in mass graves.

What is the stats on how HIV is transmitted?

And if you should die from HIV then the bank will also put in a claim against the estate. The insurance pays for some of it and the rest if covered by your estate. People who can afford a house loan will have enough of an estate to claim against.
There is no way a corporation will do something like this out of the goodness of their hearts, there is always a catch, a way for them to recoup the potential loss.

I do understand what moederloos is saying that they have to qualify for a loan first. And at the salary amount they are saying what will you buy.

I’m pissed because this is the accountability thing again. You should not be rewarded for being HIV positive you should be rewarded for not having it. This would encourage good behaviour.

The HIV policies in this country is like bad parenting, handing out chocolates for bad behaviour.

Nice.

If you think they're being rewarded for their "bad behaviour", I presume you'd be perfectly happy to be in that situation: having home loan payments covered while you're sick with HIV. Would that be a fair exchange for you?

Oke If I get this right. Why do they only do it for people with Aids and under a certain homeloan amount? Why not for everybody?

Why is AIDS treated so differently than cancer or MS or something like that?

Everybody can get an Income Protector Insurance and tailor suite it for your needs. It just so happens ABSA have designed one for a certain category of people just like Liberty or PPS provides exclusively for graduate professionals.

A month ago I was standing in queue at the pharmacy. A pregnant lady with 5 kiddies in tow walks in and the Pharmacist looks at the kiddies and with a smile asked:
What a cute bunch do you a have a day care?
I thought the woman whit the kids was going to spontaneously combust.
AT the top of her voice she tells the pharmacist :

I’m not stupid like White people. All of these have aids. And she smacked the oldest on the head.
I have already buried one on the farm but I do not tell the government. This one Is sick and she smacked him on the head again, I will do the same with him and the rest. And I take all that money and live a good live with the money the white people pay the government.

She looked at me with such venom I couldn’t believe it.
I was not even the one who said anything.

Well she did not get her ARV’s it was finished and had a mouth full to say about that too...

Yes I do not think any institute should reward people for having HIV. I do think separating HIV positive people from negative people is the only way to get rid of the disease.

Rape. Yes.
The sad reality is that rape statistics for South Africa in particular have gone up instead of done over the past 5 years.
This is on trend with the rest of the world. But is this a trend we want to see grow ? In South Africa in 2006 there were
close 55 000 reported rape cases. There are an estimated 450 000 rape cases that go unreported. Here is some more
statistical information on rape worldwide.Rape South AfricaRape is an occurrence which, according to official statistics
occurred approximately 16,000 times annually during the 1980s. By 2006 the official figure for rape was over 55 000 ,
unofficially, based on the premise put forward by the National Institute of Crime Rehabilitation that only one in twenty
rapes are reported, the figure is over 494,000 a year. This means that on average approximately one thousand three
hundred women can be expected to be raped a day in South Africa. A study by Interpol, the international police agency,
has revealed that South Africa leads the world in rapes. A woman was raped in South Africa every 17 seconds. This did
not include the number of child rape victims. It was estimated that one in every two women would be raped. Between 28
and 30 percent of adolescents reported that their first sexual encounter was forced. Of South African men who knew
somebody who had been raped, 16 percent believed that the rape survivor had enjoyed the experience and had asked
for it.
According to a recent study police estimated that only one in 36 rape cases was reported and of those only 15
percent culminated in a conviction. Rape Cases Reported South Africa - from South African Police Services

2002 - 54293
2003 - 52 425
2004 - 52 733
2005 - 55 114
2006 - 54 926

This might be the major reason for our high HIV stats. But why then not address the root of the problem? Stop throwing money at the problem.
A home loan isnot going to stop people raping.

Lets not go there cause I think you all know how I feel about this.
