I deposited two US$ cheques into my bank account on the 10th of November. Just got my statement and none of the deposits reflect on the statement. Surely it can't take more than a month for them to handle the foreign exchange?

Guess I'm in for a visit to BLABSA tomorrow to find out what the case is - provided I can find a competent person in the bank!

Yes it can take up to 6 weeks. You should have asked for special clearance.

Not sure if special clearance would help.
The people at International Banking would give you a more definitive answer.

At my bank I ask for special clearance and they clear it immediately. If not I have to wait up to six weeks. Obviously they will not clear it immediately if you don't have sufficient funds to cover the cheque bouncing.
