Which device are you buying on? I have issues when buying from my phone but it usually works when I buy from my gaming PC. I've also logged into Internet banking from that PC regularly so not sure if that makes a difference.

At this point it seems you're going to have to get yourself a card from another bank to solve this, might be easier in the long run?
 
My absa credit card also didn't work on steam. I used egifts24 to top up my steam wallet.

You can also use your absa app to buy steam vouchers...

Thanks for this, I never actually looked into it and lastnight my Absa credit card suddenly stopped working with Steam as well. Eventually found this thread and this comment, low and behold, under the vouchers section in the Absa banking app is a section for gaming vouchers. Saved me a major headache lastnight, so thanks!
 
I have the same - and their support is pretty crap.

Its a real lucky packet it seems but mine also stopped working completely.
 
Wish I knew about Steam Vouchers in the app a few days ago. The five games in my shopping cart have just gone from R157 to R1100 since the sale is over.

When I called them they explained about the fraud and it being blocked. I asked "so what do I do now" and the lady didn't tell me about the vouchers.

For me the real kicker is that I have 3d-secure on ABSA (and 2FA on my steam account). Why don't they trust their own 3D Secure?

Steam used to have 3D secure on it but I think they removed it because it always failed. This is 100% Absa's fault blaming an online merchant is ridiculous.

Don't use your CC on pornhub/Kinguin/dodge sites? ABSA probably saw your naughty transactions and flagged you. That said I only had this once with FNB, kakked them out and it stopped permanently.
 
It looks like its working on the web side again, it goes to the merchant verification page and if you accept on your phone it goes through.

Time to run some Titan Quest 2!
