Well then those banks need to get rid of their developers if they're that kuk to not know how to secure the app properly. The app shouldn't even store any sensitive data on the device, so you're clutching at straws here.

You're also giving the impression that the play store only has legit applications on it, and that that these apps cannot penetrate the security of stock android. You'll be surprised

By the way, my phone's rooted and my Standard Bank app works just fine. :)

The developers are k@k.

I have no idea what apps are on the play store. I have never used android before.

Standard bank was the first banking app that I heard of that rejected jail broken iOS devices.

I've been looking into this a bit more (read: how to override it), and I see that Absa's parent, Barclays, also does this. Quite a bit on xda about it.

So Raithlin did you just add ABSA (com.barklays.absa.ui) and nothing else? Doesn't seem to work for me. I still get the warning when I open the ABSA app.

I also install this cloak think last night, but the app still see the root part. On that forum it seems the barclays people struggle.

Wonder when this update is coming, or perhaps email absa and find a solution.

Just did the mandatory upgrade. It still allows root, but now it has "Surecheck" as part of the app.
Effectively it will not allow you to use normal internet banking either, as the surecheck would also be blocked...
I am strongly considering changing banks...

And i've been happy with ABSA for the most part. but they are not going to tell me which phone I can and cannot ure.

I have been using the ABSA banking app for just about 2 years now (on a non rooted phone) with no issues at all.
In fact I find it to be an excellent app. Very user friendly, no bugs. Always worked the way I wanted it to.

It's full of bugs - eg crashes consistently when trying to purchase prepaid airtime/data for beneficiaries.

Just got a notification on the new app that they will not allow Rooted devices in the next app update.

Dear Absa, go stick your app up your ****.
