Absa looks to bulk up high tech ATMs

Fnb is busy rolling them out to all their branches,
Standard Bank will also start with them this year
and Capitec is busy piloting them as well
I guess Nedbank will have to follow
 
Surely this is just a waste of money? The banks should be encouraging people to bank online and use their internet banking accounts to transfer money and pay bills. This actually seems like a massive step backwards. We want to move towards a cash less society, not try to encourage people to use cash and ATMs more.
 
You are right,but we live in a 3rd world country,plus our banks follow what is happening overseas.I work for a int.company that supply these atm's to the banks and I spoke to a manager at a branch and he reckons they generate a lot of money with these machine's.
