Just got word now,

With Absa’s Payment Pebble becoming available for commercial use this week, the world of payments will be revolutionised through speed, convenience and security,

Payment Pebble, a South African innovation, is a mobile Point of Sale (mPOS) device that allows merchants to accept debit and credit card – chip & PIN and mag-stripe & PIN – payments. Unlike other mPOS devices, it is compact, does not require a Bluetooth connection and simply plugs into a smartphone’s audio jack.

Payment Pebble is the most effective mPOS device available on the global market today. It is easy-to-use, a cash-less payment mobile solution which needs nothing more than a smartphone or tablet and a merchant account to provide a card payment solution anywhere, at any time.

Its revolutionary PIN entry method makes it more secure than any other mPOS device and it has been designed to make the lives of our customers and merchants much easier by providing convenience and security. Customers can now pay for plumbing services, fast food deliveries, roadside assistance, merchants at markets, to name just a few possibilities, with a debit or credit card. The completely revolutionary PIN entry method for touch-screen smartphones that was developed for Payment Pebble has gained acclaim from all relevant regulatory bodies and is breaking new ground globally. We are working with international regulators to introduce this PIN entry method as a new global standard.

Oi! Leave me out of this...

This seems to be similar to Nedbanks Pocket POS which has been out for a while now.

Not really revolutionary and just a copy of the Square which has been out for a number of years.
