Absolute noob

Okay so am relatively new to this site but there is a horde of info on here and i am struggling to get through all of it with a better conclusion as to what I should do.

Am looking to get a 384k line at home soon and not sure as to who to go with as a ISP - was thinking of either AfriHost or Cybersmart - Afrihost as it is far cheaper but i needed to find out if it is shaped or unshaped cause as far as I understand shaped means that it will affect the speed on torrents - is this right? Are there other options for ISP that would be better than these - my folks have a 4mb telkom line but personally i think their prices are a rip off.

Also I have a PS3 at home which i would like to connect up as well - would a wifi router suffice for this? I saw some mention of the billion routers and they seem to be the way to go - is this right? Will a PS3 manage comfartably on a 384k line or am I dreaming?

What is your budget?

For about R500 including 384kbs ADSL line rental you can get uncapped & unshaped from SAOL or Cybersmart.

well way i worked it out was with the line rental, and ADSL charge from telkom and a 3Gb package from Afri i would have been at about R390

You have to email Cybersmart for the uncapped/unshaped package.

R500 includes ADSL line rental & uncapped IP bandwidth. Does NOT include telephone line rental as with every other isp out there.

closer package is excluded
dsl 384 line rental is excluded

R500 is for the uncapped and unshaped bandwidth is that right or is the dsl384 line rental included in the R500 - if thats the case then this is quite a deal!

the adsl rental is included with the uncapped unshaped data, it does not include the voice line rental

Cybersmart usually include a Mecer router with there product but you can request a Mecer wireless router. It will cost around R200 odd though as it is an upgrade..
